Laura Kampman (in) Valentine’s Day

After Rodarte FW 12.13, Laura was missing home, but quickly cheered up when I surprised her with a rose. It is always my pleasure to bring smiles to the faces of sweet girls like Laura.<3

Fashion week might be a glamorous and fun social environment for fashion spectators (and an exciting time for photographers like me who get to see their friends and favorite muses), but for many of the models, it is a gruesome, lonely month away from home. I’m always happy to share my happiness with others. ;)

Melissa Stasiuk, Antonia Wesseloh, & Zuzanna Stankiewicz (in) The New Generation

I have been dying to capture an image with all three of them together, and I finally had my chance! No particular reason…. This was just for my own image musings because all three models have had buzz because they have some resemblances to Freja Beha due to facial features or hair. However, I have learned more about each girl on an individual basis, and their interiors have proven to be even more valuable than what the eyes at the moment see…

Melissa Stasiuk is the newest member of the crop of very cool Argentinian models with great style and individualism that has been making waves in the past few seasons. She does not speak a lot of English, but she is very charming with a big heart that one can just feel. When I speak to her, we mostly just smile as I try to understand her Spanish and she tries to decipher my broken Spanglish. She’s truly adorable! =)

Antonia Wesseloh is no doubt one of my top favorite newcomers from last season. She has matured and gained a lot of confidence in the last few months. She is a sweet German beauty who is very well-spoken and intelligent. Antonia is l’amour! ;)

Zuzanna Stankiewicz finally made her NYFW debut along with a wave of new girls from Poland. During pre-castings when newcomers were being introduced, the room I was in at one point was literally filled with 80% Polish models. However, even with the infux, Zuzanna’s cheery face and great personality stood out in the bunch for me! The first meeting sealed the deal as she is the first in my list of favorite new faces this season. =)

Lily Donaldson (in) Model’s Street Style

Before Anna Sui FW 12.13, I was taking a break on the sidewalk, and suddenly, this magnificent blonde with heels was walking down the streets alone. I had to look twice, three times to make sure I was thinking right and was not out of my mind dreaming on such a great image opportunity. The Best Dressed Model of Day 7 was Miss Donaldson! Lily was everything and beyond when I asked to photograph her. She was sweet and so welcoming. Lily made it such a wonderful pleasure to photograph her- the English rose, au naturel in the concrete jungle of New York City. I could not ask for more. Lily was perfect walking down the streets in heels - all professional and yet extremely sweet and nice! She said that she was happy to be healthy and back to walking the catwalk! How perfect is Lily! <3

This moment was just divine, and it brightened the end of the weirdest NYFW season ever - unanimously voted by photographers in the streets and backstage and many of the models. This season, positive energy and happiness from the models were at an ALL-TIME low, and everyone felt it! =( Something about Fall/Winter 2012.13 is very off, and I have not found all the words to describe it for you guys, but my lack of sharing posts hopefully gives you an idea of the lack of inspiration and exhaustion that I have been feeling alongside all my photographer friends, who go model hunting with me during fashion week. Even with some less than enthused experiences from my tweets and the low energy, a happy moment with one of my favorite models of all time reminds me how it’s all worth it to do what I love and enjoy regardless of how others may misinterpret me. =)
